hypertech chip

I've got a 80's vintage hypertech chip in my 87 trans-am. I was wondering if the car would run better with a stock chip rather than the aftermarket piece. I recently added a 350 crank and a summit cam. thanks

My '87 ran better and cooler with an '80's vintage Thermomaster.
