what head gasket will work better with edelbrock heads fel-pro 1003 or 1010.
what head gasket will work better with edelbrock heads fel-pro 1003 or 1010. Why?

First off, edelbrock will only tell you to use the 1003 (steel ring). They will not recommend the 1010 (copper ring).
My concern was that with teh 1003, the steel rings will actually dent the softer aluminum heads ... called brindling or something like that. It is a minor relief, like 0.001 or so. BUT you have to always use the 1003 gaskets in order to follow the same "dent".
I thought about using the 1010 so as to avoid this problem. I could not find anyone who had used the 1010, but I could find lots who used the 1003 and had no problems. Even race shops that pulled the heads off quite often.
In the end, after much deliberation, I choose the 1003. At least if I have a problem with them, edelbrock will warrenty them (I can't imagine what you could return them for).
Perhaps you find others who have used the 1010's. I could not.
