Poor throttle response, backfiring...

I recently took my '89 out for a drive, only the second or third time this year. The last time I was out cruising I noticed something.

When I mash the peddle the engine hesitates and then picks up slowly, at this point I get some minor backfiring as well.

I just cleaned my K&N's so it's not dirty filters... Could this be bad injectors?... I have no idea.

Please help... I doubt I could take me parents Caravan at the moment.

Backfires out the exuast of intake. Does it backfire at full throttle are just part. More details please.

Maybe try putting in a fresh tank of gas or fuel system cleaner. If you've driven only 2 or 3 times this year, do you still have last years gas? If so, you may have some lacquering in the lines or tank that has reduced pressure of partially clogged the injectors. Backfiring under the hood (throttle body) usually means low fuel pressure. Tailpipe backfiring is usually related to timing. Which do you have?

I had the same problem before. My problem was because I had bad plug wires(they were really crispy from hanging on the exhaust manifold) and 2 of my plugs wires were switched with eachother. So my firing order was basically messed up.Just my personal experience.

Okay, I checked my wires and one was popped off a little on the distributor. So I took pushed it back in.

I took her out and she feels waaaay better.
I'm going to replace the rotor, plugs and wires then get my timing checked.

Thanks a lot guys.
