Pinging, timing, thermostat question...please help?
i recently threw in a 160 degree thermostat and i noticed that the car doesnt run right. and its pinging. i read in another topic that if the thermostat is changed then i would have to change the chip. so i ordered a JET stage 2 chip that is made to go with the 160 stat. hasnt arrived yet.
my question is, do i have to mess with the timing after i put the chip in? and if so settings do you guys suggest? or does the chip correct the problem? thanks in advance

You should've just put a 180 thermostat in there first instead of wasting your money on the crap chip!! Personally, I have a 160 thermostat in my car with an adjustable fan switch hooked up and my car never pings even with 90 octane gas! If you tune everything properly you can run a 160 w/out performance problems!!
