Performance of stock 1970 350 with tpi from 305

Hello,

Is it possible to run a swapped 305 tpi onto a 350 without changing the injectors to 22 or 24 pound versions?

Thanks,

Jim

Yes, depending on what year the 305 TPI is from. Remember they changed the intake bolt pattern in 1987, and the 1970 heads will have the older pattern. You can either get an aftermarket intake manifold from Edelbrock, or use a grinder on the middle four bolt holes to change their angle.
The 19lbs injectors are good to about 350 hp at the flywheel at 5000 rpms before they cant keep up and you go lean.

Thanks very much for the info.

I've read that the center 4 bolts in the manifold require washers... As I've never actually seen the difference between the two heads it is hard to figure out. It is possible to install the TPI on a set of old heads though, right?

Thanks again Kevin for the information. I'm putting my 350 TPI into a Jeep YJ, so higher rpm won't be a regular occurance!

from 89-92 gm used the same fuel injectors in 305 and 350's they just changed the fuel preasure regulators

by an ajustable fpr and crank it up intill you get black smoke out the pipes and back it off untill the exsaust gets cold and run the hell out of it.

Here's a pic of my intake holes reamed out and a pic of the washers I made.
Simple to do.

Uhm, no. 85-92 305 TPI's used 19lbs injectors. 87-92 350 TPI's used 22lbs injectors. Where did you get your info?

I've had both in my hands, and the part number stamped on them is different. Not to mention Rich at Cruzin Performance has done flow tests and proven they are different.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the info. I have just purchased what seems to be a rather complete '92 sb tpi from a 350.
