Re: tbi-tpi fuel lines

I have drove mine about 5 miles..and idled for about 30min ontop of that with TBI rubber, but TPI pump n pressure. No issues so far.

I looked up the hoses, and TBI and TPI call for the same part number in the aftermarket world. Who knows if they were different for GM

Re: tbi-tpi fuel lines

The GM lines for TBI and TPI are the same for the return line and the line from the tank to the chassis hard lines. The feed lines are different part numbers. The aftermarket is most likely selling a line already able to handle the higher pressure of TPI and just listing it for TBI as well.

Re: tbi-tpi fuel lines

Pure Choice offers a braided stainless steel kit to replace the lines from the chassis hardlines right up to the intake. They can also make them to whatever length you wish. I don't know of anyone making a rubber line. I may have a spare feed line from when I did my TPI swap back in Nov. '06. I'll let you know if you're interested.

Re: tbi-tpi fuel lines

I run a TPI fuel pump with my TBI engine and all my TBI softlines have held up fine. Been like this for about 40,000 miles now.

Re: tbi-tpi fuel lines

You need to change out the hard lines that go from the TPI fuel rail to the ruber lines, which ones you need depend on weather you have a serpintine belt or v belt system

all the lines are the same except for those hard lines that go behind the serp set up. You can get them at tpiparts.net.

Re: tbi-tpi fuel lines

I've read that some have used AN fittings/adapters to connect to TPI. Restating a post, TPI requires more PSI than TBI. About 45 vs 15 PSI.
Good luck on the project, you are a true "hot rodder"!!!

Re: tbi-tpi fuel lines

Are you changing the complete harness or converting the tbi harness to tpi?

Re: tbi-tpi fuel lines

On some of my street rod TPI installations, I've gone to junk yard and gotten the braided lines from TBI pickups in the 89-92 range. They are about 40-45 " long and fit the TPI fuel rails.
I run them down the side of serpintine and under engine to frame rails and then cut and splice on the saganaw fitting for return and use a fuel filter to connect the supply line.
Looks pretty good, and cheap.

Re: tbi-tpi fuel lines

thanks for the suggestion scuzz. im kinda nervous about this swap but yet i cant wait to do it and get it running. ive already did a big swap to my car before. changed it to a manual tranny. that was a pita because i didnt have all the correct parts i needed. to answer your question battman, im gonna take the tbi harness out and put the tpi in. im not educated on repinning. shoot im not educated on tunning either. but hopefully i will soon.
