xfi 268 cam and stock-ish tpi.

what do you guys think? i am putting the tpi back on my iroc and i picked out the xfi 268 cam in hydrolic flat tappet. i am running the xe 268 cam at the moment wiht a 650 double pumper and i like it a good bit. i just want the better gas mileage of the fi. i ported the plenum and thats about it. going to run 24 lb injectors and factory 350 chip for awhile. just wondering some opinions. i am building this car to drive and i want it to get decent gas mileage i wanted to go with the xfi 260 cam but it is out of stock at summit.

i have a t5 and also have a 9 bolt with 3.45 if that means anything to you guys. also the heads are like factory heads with 1.5 comp pro mags.

let me know what you think if i should go with a smaller cam or what. the reason i am putting it back to stock is i just bought a 67 camaro that i am building to be my race car so i really dont need my car to be fast just fuel efficient and reliable.

Re: xfi 268 cam and stock-ish tpi.

Comp Cams probably has the XFI260 in stock. Summit did not have the cam I was looking for either so I just ordered it straight from Comp Cams. Was not much difference in price which kind of suprised me.

Cam is probably fine but a few questions. Is your current motor a hydraulic roller? Are you running the stock heads?

Re: xfi 268 cam and stock-ish tpi.

cam may be a tad on the big side for stock TPI and maybe abit for stock heads but i plan to run similar cam on my stock heads if i dont get new heads. should still run good tho, not sure how much you'll gain with the xfi flat tappet 268 over the XE. the wider LSA will be nice for fuel injection and TPI ecm. still will need some tuning to run right

well i am going to change to the xfi so it will work decent with the stock chip for a little while. i am looking for a holley stealth ram and this cam would work great with that intake setup. i like my cam now because with the five speed there is no bucking or anything and the vaccum is fine. they are stock heads with 981 valve springs which are good to 525 lift. and i also have 1.5 comp pro magnum roller rockers on them as well.

basically what i want to do is put this cam in and throw the tpi on and when i find an hsr in my price range i will buy it and then get a chip made. i am thinking this cam should still work fairly well on a stock chip.
