Street Fast Burn?
I'm going to be building a 350 TPI for the street, so I'll be using a street cam along with factory TPI. I really like the fast burn heads, but would they work well on a street engine?

87TTops,
Yes the fast burn head is a good design and is very street able. Hope your getting a good deal on them. In the end it depends on what you want to accomplish with your car. More details would be appreciated.

Right I plan on getting the SD baseplate. I'm not getting any deal on em, I just really want em and am willing to shell out the 1300 bucks. I want the aluminum for weight savings. I'd go with an aluminum block too if I had the money for an LS, but that's pushing it. I'm just wanting to build a mean 350tpi with road manners, so I can drive it daily. I'm still trying to figure out all this cam business though, I think I want something like 208int @ .05?

208 deg at 0.050" lift is in the range of a stock 89 tpi cam. You need to define your goals more quantitatively and we could point you in a better direction.
Headers? Custom tuning? Auto/manual? deired operating range? etc.

I've already got headers, I'm keeping the 700R4, and I guess 1k-5k would really be all I'd need. I don't know anything about chip tuning, so I'd just assume to leave it stock, unless there's something wrong with that.

The zz cam is a great cam, really street able, and holds an idle with plenty of vacuum for accessories. If you are around the southern cali area you can drop Kevin a line if you need to have your chip tuned.

Cool, I'll do that then. Know anyone in the CT area? I'm kinda far from California Would they do it at a machine shop? I think SLP or Callaway is right next door, would they do it?

87TTops,
No machine shop I know of does chip burning. Best bet is to check the regional boards for someone local to you. Just go down the list of links on the main message board page. There should be someone out there that would help you out. Good luck with your hunt man.

Re: Street Fast Burn?
Kevin91z says I won't need tuning if I use the ZZ4 cam and 22lb injectors though. I'm all set then. Thanks for the help everyone.

Re: Street Fast Burn?
Hey Kevin, I just noticed that the ZZ4 heads have 165cc intake runners. Does the fact that fast burns have 210cc runners mean this is a bad combo? I'm getting into this in another thread and now they're telling me fast burns are too big for street engines.
Edit: Nevermind, apparently the fast burn 385 crate engine is actually a zz4 with fast burn heads, so obviously the cam will work with the fast burns. Sorry for doubting you.
