aftermarket TPI base/runners

ok well I'm starting to belive that unless you have cam and heads, upgrading your TPI unit is totally useless, and I have the time slips to prove it...I have seen no gain.
so bring it on! lol...no seriously, you guys seeing any gains??

Well, I've seen some massive gains from using a stock TPI and runners, 3 full seconds actually!

Of course, that's using the stock TPI compared to my former stock MPFI (V6 induction system)...hehehe... Sorry, I just thought this one needed to be moved back up top.

I have to agree with the guy. The Accel intake I bought was a total waste of money. I have seen no gain whatsoever althought that MAY be because I still have the stock runners.

I'm running an 87 Vette with early AL heads. A fully ported Edelcrap HiFlow Runner and Base flowed 8% better than a ported stock TPI. The stock heads were not much better than the stock TPI and were worse than the restrictive stock exhaust manifold.

see what I mean? and you have heads...were I got crapy 882's and stock cam...go figure...I wonder if the money would be better spend extrudehoning the hole thing...I have the edelbrock base and slp runners, and the base seems to be a bit bigger than the stocker....and the runners, well by being siamesed and all you'd figure it would "help out" but h*LL no...still hit "da wall" at 4800 and tops end at 4800 in D (with about 600lb of people in the car...) I came up with an acronim for SLP "Sure Lack of Power"...c'mon people bring it on! prove me wrong, I say that all those aftermarket intake is either for 383's or bigger or 350 with big cams and big heads, and/or is a waist of time...(ps: talking about ltr set up...not MR or SR...)

I dunno what you guys are talking about, I gained 35 HP and 37 TQ at the wheels by changing from a ported stock intake to TPIS intake and runners.

(but I also changed the cam and the headers too)

the power comes from the heads as soon as you
switch to better flowing ones you wiil notice
a big differance between stock tuned port

Mirage Im in the same boat as you! I have the edelbrock base and slp runners and have not gained anything either even with a little better cam I have a comp-cam L-.480/.480 Dur@.05-210/220 LSA112.I think our stock heads are what's hurting performance. At SLP's customer appreciation day this weekend I was nose to nose with LS1's untill 80mph then they would pull away like I was standing still. It's has to be the heads!

My Accel base gave me 2mph and two tenths even after the addition of my 96 lb roll bar. I am not sure what you guys are doing wrong.
