Super Ram questions
Ok guys, I've been reading some posts about a superram setup and still have some questions.. My current plans are to build a 400 SBC w/ Super Ram - my goal is 400+ HP/TQ at the wheels. So, I'm planing on buying the Super Ram plenum/runners set thats like ~600 (don't remember the exact price) and thinking about using the stock base, most likely ported. Would it be better to just shell out the 800 bucks for the Super Ram base or would my stock base (ported or not) be good enough? Also would I be able to bolt up a T-56 to the 400? Any other info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

You will want to at least port the base. AT LEAST. Doesn't make sense to buy a SR and then immediatly restrict it with a stock OEM base. If funds permit, an aftermarket base is the way to go. Even ported, the stock base just doesn't flow much. If you're good at porting, it's worth a shot. A T-56 will bolt up to a 400, but a specific flywheel is neccessary. Since the 383 and 400 are externally balanced, it would need to be balanced with the rotating assy. Best time to consider that is before the motor is built. A 383 stroker will work almost the same, but you can use a 1 piece rear seal. This is aa factor when you go to look for the flywheel.

Thanks for the info man. My motor swap is a bit off into the future right now, but I want to do all my research so when I do have the money I have a good idea of what to expect. You think thea 400+ HP/TQ at the wheels would be possible with a ported stock base?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
