Port stock heads or get new ones?

I have the original heads on my 85 Trans am 305tpi. It needs new valve seals any way. I want a performance gain so should I look at getting new heads or port the stock ones? If I get new ones which would be the best for the intake manifold that I have now.

Id say, port the stock heads and install the seals, springs yourself. You may want to have them milled and/or a 3 angle valve job done depending on mileage and plans with the car. If you plan on anything more than 300 HP, a decent low-buck alternative are Corvette Aluminum heads (88+). Work well stock or ported and are a definite budget mod.

Sell it and buy a 350! Just kidding man! Its me, Jeremy from SEMO! I plan on porting my 350 heads my self when I build my L98 this summer. I also plan on using my ZZ4 cam. Someone gave me a link to a head porting site. I'll see if I can find it. Good luck man

You can buy complete S/R Torquers from Jegs for $740. They are cast iron, but thats the only drawback. Porting and doing all the work on the heads at a machine shop will cost a bundle, so if you were going to go that route, just buy the new heads.

Will the S/R torquers bolt straight on to my manifold? Remember the car is a 85.
