B&M / Hurst shifter

I tried this in the Suspension group with no luck. I saw a pic of the interior of a car with a 5spd. The shifter was real tall. The shifter ball was about 4 inches above the boot. My shifter **** is right on top of the boot. Could this mean it is an aftermarket one? I bought my car like this, so all I know is I have not put one in yet. Please anyone help!

Thanks,

I have a hurst and it fits the boot great, the boot is a little worn so it slides down the shaft about an inch but the shifter does fit it perfect...if the boot was not warn
