TPI boost ability?

plans changed, new car an everything, am i gonna run into problems with a stock TPI 5.7 formula with boosting/revving? i was hoping to hih a high redline an 15-20 PSI normally, will TPI en up biting me in the *** on it? i don thave too much of an understanding of my options, are TPI/TBI the only way to go? or can i get SFI without redoing the whole thing? sorry if this is in the wrong place.

How high are you talking about? The TPI intake will stand the boost, but the pistons, rods, and crank wont stand the boost or the high revving. They usually start to fail, valve float and stuff, over 6000. You'll need forged parts and other drivetrain enhancements.

dont worry about high revving a stock motor the boost will do it's job doesn't matter how fast you spin the engine it maatters what the supercharger or turbocharger's operating range will be with a standard 8psi kit you wont get aanymore out of it by spinning the engine higher work on what the tpi is known for huge tourqe build on that and optimize your gearing and putting all that tourqe to the ground

oh yea, i was gonna switch everything out, forged inernals and better head/cam, but i was told long runners make the motor die out after 5 grand, any other options? it's gonna be a turbo setup eventually, no N20. thanks for the help tho.

Get a smaller turbocharger. It'll spool up fast and run out of breath by 5500RPM.

I plan on using 2 from a DSM (Talon, Eclipse, Laser) along with 2 intercoolers.

I have to get the engine running soundly before I attempt boosting it.

I would say with a stock bottom end and two turbos, 8-10 psi would make around 475 hp and 525 lb. ft. torque.

Also to clarify manifold problems....

A long runner wont hurt it because the manifold will now be pressurized

All you need to do is get bigger injectors (36 lb.) and a better fuel pump to keep up with them.

Yeah what he said - the long runner thing chokes a NA engine, but with forced induction, the air charge is "forced" in so if your engine and igntion is set up to spin high it'll spin high no matter what under boost. Have fun with that man wish I could afford the turbo hobby!

a force fed TPI is a great motor, you get all that torque down low before your boost is built up, and once you get enough boost built up to 5-6psi+ your car will fly like an LS1
