i read through the archives and there is no clear answer to this. I have a sset of 87-88 l98 heads that were given to me. Are they worth a build up? I mean dollar for power can they be made to perform? I local shop says $150.00 for 3angle valve job and $100.00 redecking. Now figure 200-300 more for R/R'S and springs. What do you folks think? thnks THE SHAGGY IROC

iron heads will make more horsepower than aluminum heads of the same size. port the crap out of em, give em valve jobs, 1.6rr, and mill them a little and you will have some good heads.

I hogged the snot out of my L98 heads and it made a big difference.I get about 600 or 700 more RPMs out of the top end before it pukes out.I'm sure its not the same as buying after market heads, but all I had to do was buy the porting kit ($36.00)and get a valve job($105.00).
