Please help me with my afpr

I tried to adjust my pressure today and I am having problems. I have the screw butt up against the nut down on the regulator and when I disconnect the vacuum and check the gauge and it is still at 42-43 psi. As I adjusted it it gradually went up so I guess I went in the right direction. I am pretty sure I am disconnecting the vacuum line in the right place, too. It seems to run fine except at the top of every gear at about 4500 rpms it cuts out like it is running out of something (air or fuel). Any help would be appreciated.

Well, if you have the same problem as me, your fuel pump is junk. Mine is two years old, but I can't get any higher pressure than 44PSI. I've rebuilt the AFPR and tried plugging the return line to see if pressure would go up. My problem seems to be in the tank.

sounds like the fuel pump. drive the car with the guage attached so you can see it (the ones attached to a long hose are nice) and see if your pressure drops at higher rpm. it shouldn't, but if the pump or regulator are bad it will.

Where exactly are you disconnecting the vacuum line when you check to adjust pressure?

I am disconnecting it at the line that comes off of the reglator to the plenum. I got about 11 mpgs this tank. I am frustrated...

Ouch, thats rough.

Did you make your own FPR or buy one?

I just made mine 3 weeks ago, i didn't notice any difference no matter what PSI, but oh well, now i can burn more gas at will

It is an Accel regulator. Anyone else with an idea?
If not I guess I will be going back to the stock regulator and see if my car will run any better. I guess the afpr was a waist of money.

When you pull the vacuum line off the plenum you are supposed to plug it up then set the pressure. BTW, my fuel afpr gave me .3ths in the quarter, no bs. Hope this helps.

If the fuel pressure remains the same whether the vacuum line is on or off,,, then unscrew the vacuum port nipple from the regulator and make sure it is not plugged up as the Accel unit I bought was. I know at least one other person has experienced the same thing.
