Tell us more about it. Is it completely stock, how many miles, etc.
On the easy and inexpensive side get the car tuned, new O2 sensor, plugs and of course a K&N filter or similar.
Need more, look through the archives and you will find lots of info that will help you a lot.
Good luck and welcome.

IROC 88,

Welcome aboard!

Do the basics first. Unless you have a complete repair history of the car, start performing the required routine maintenance for a car of that age and mileage.

Keep the tires inflated and the wheels aligned. That can make a big difference in fuel mileage. Keep it in tune. Replace the air filter. Change to synthetic engine oil, differential oil, and transmission oil. That alone can free up 10HP and provide the fuel savings required to maker that extra 10HP.

Besides the good recommendations the other guys wrote, get a better ignition system -something like the MSD6A and a high output coil. The MSD coil and multispark is inexpensive and works very good for gas mileage and more power. Instead of replacing the wires with the stock types get the 8.5 - 8.8mm with as low a resistance as you can get and again the MSD is a good way to go here too. Don't forget to open up the plug gap from .035 to .050 after the ignition swap.
