vacuum and cold start injector

I am pretty sure that i have a pretty bad vacuum leak where my cold start injector is at. I sprayed carb cleaner on it and the car revved up. I already tried to tackle this leak once and put a new o-ring on it and even used a little bit of rtv to try to give it a better seal. still no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this problem?

Also, what is involved with bypassing the cold start injector? And what are the advantages/disadvantages?

Thanks alot

It is quite possible that at some time either you or someone prior didn't get the cold start injector seated correctly when they tightened it. Thereby bending it if was a bit over the lip.

Trust me, I did this and it's real easy to do. Look at the flange that holds the injector and make sure it's totally flat not curved.

Yeah, I have tried that. The main thing that i am looking to do is blcok off the injector, but i dont know whats involved or if i will mess something up by doing it. thanks for the suggestion.

You would need to change to an 89 chip to run without the cold start injector, but actually the 89 chip is a good idea anyway its alot better than the earlier ones.

Are you sure its the injector and not the gasket from the runner to the base? Theres also the PCV connection there, check that too.

It may also be the actual intake manifold. Check the tightness of the four middle torx bolts. Mine were so loose I could turn them with a 1/4 drive ratchet.

This cleared up a code 44 I'd been searching months for. It may just appear to be your cold start because of the proximity.

Bwaaaaaaaaah...... My car's worth more than yours........LOL

I used about 20 dimes to space my reflector strip after I surgically removed some from another lens and had to grind off the mounting spacers.

So if my car ever trashes I know it's at least worth two bucks.......

Who IS that masked man in the reflection of that tail light lens?

Mike, you need to align the rear deck a bit on the left side. Got a few more dimes?
