Miniram on L98

I think i might have found my next engine combo. I'm thinking of getting an 89 corvette l98 engine with the aluminum heads. My setup would be L98 heads, .488/.495 212/218 Comp Cam, full exhaust, a miniram, and a REAL self made custom chip. I'm only hoping to run low 13's or high 12's and still be a daily driver. Question is, would i need to have my L98 heads ported with 1.6 RR to achieve this goal?

------------------
1991 Z28 305 5spd 1LE, TES headers, dual cats, 3 Chamber flowmaster, Comp cams .488/.495 212/218 the usual street racer with a stock chip.
Gained 20HP by porting and polishing my EGR passage.

I would port them, or if that bill turns out to be mucho $... just use the $ for AFR's and sell the L98's and you'll be lotsa hp ahead for less $.

I'd port the heads, but you dont need the miniram for low 13's high 12's.

That cam is too small for the miniram anyway.

stay away from the miniram on a 350 you really dont need it use a superram or a hiflo system(tpis,as&m,eddelbrock, etc.)

------------------
87 trans am 350 L98 aluminum heads,LT4 hot cam,slp runners,1 5/8 headers,y-pipe,edelbrock base,hi flo cat,air foil,afpr,ported plenum,t-5 tranny w/centerforce clutch and a 3.27 9bolt(11.9in. brakes),ads strip chip,relocated iat sensor,hollowed maf

14.10@97mph w/2.01 60'

I too would suggest a "1 step larger" cam if you plan to use a Miniram. Whether you use Superram or Miniram, make sure you match the cam to the induction. A great cam for a Superram is not for a Miniram and vice versa.

I notice that a single pattern cam gives fairly good results for a Superram and a dual pattern (like you are suggesting) is better for the Miniram. I would just get one step larger for the Miniram.

BTW, I notice you are looking at an 89 Vette. What type of transmission and are you going to retain the MAF or convert to SD?

It would be a 89 l98 vette engine, with my t5 5spd. I would keep my speed density system
