Car bogs around 3700 RPM

i have a 91 TA and when i floor my car it starts to bog around 3900 RPM. if i dont floor it all the way it will go up to 5000 RPM though..also my check engine light comes on and off occasionally since i have noticed this..any help is appreciated thanks

check u TPS sensor... they can go bad after a certain amount of throttle... the numbers will become irratic when the peddel is heald steady...

another thing can be the ignition modual in the distributer... bad moduals have a tendency to bog the car down and create a miss in the upper RPMs.

get that code read and start from there. check all your sensors.
