Holy crap.

it may not be the ECU thats causing your problem. Timing being off, low fuel pressure, pressure regulator, bad sensor like TPS or CTS, or even something out there like poor wiring to the ECM. Or a combination of them all could be the culprit.

Or it could be the ECM, hard to say.

Re: LOTS OF CRANKS TO START/NO SES LIGHT WITH KEY ON

I have a problem with my fuel pump relay system, and have to crank it long enough to get oil pressure before mine will fire up. Once that oil pressure builds my pump comes on, and it starts instantly. Does your pump prime when you set key to run? (I know you have pressure, but I'm wondering if your pump actually runs)

Re: LOTS OF CRANKS TO START/NO SES LIGHT WITH KEY ON

If the fuel pump runs a two-second prime cycle on ignition power-up, the ECM is at least functioning. Why the SES is not turning on is not known, but could be a connection anywhere between the ECM and the instrument panel. Such a connection could also be the reason the engine doesn't start immediately. Get the SES working, and you may find the root problem for the no-start.
