so confused.

Okay guys im going to buy myself an hsr setup. Thing is im putting it on my stock motor now. But i will be buying vortec heads soon. Any problems? How will the bolt patterns work there? Any machining?

The vortec heads have a different intake manifold mounting. I do not recall if it was port location, or something else, however, I do know that a standard manifold will NOT fit vortec heads. I do not beleive any amount of machining will alter that fact.....

the only difference is the bolt pattern. If the HSR has the "old" style pattern you will need to enlogate the center bolt holes on the manifold.

Sorry Bob, but that is not correct. The Vortech heads also have much taller intake ports, which are taller than the entire stock intake manifold, so would require extensive welding and machining on the HSR to make it work. Go with the AFR's that are designed for the older style intakes, you'll save yourself a lot of headaches, have better heads, and still be able to use your HSR.

he ended up buying a regular style one... ill pass on the vortec info... you are correct i was thinking of the change from Pre 86 to 86+ for some reason....

Ya ima just buy a side engine and buil it up. Then toss my hsr on it and call it a day
