stock roller lifters - refurbishing
Could someone please point me to the correct procedure for disassembling, cleaning, reassembling a stock hydraulic roller lifter? I also need to know how to tell if the spring is still good.
Here's the detailed info: I've taken my engine apart and upon inspection of the lifters I've noticed that with most of them I can move the plunger about 1-1.5 mm with moderate force applied - which I assume is ok. However there are a couple that I can depress up to 4 mm with almost no effort at all, and there are a couple that I can't move at all no matter how hard I press. So, I'm thinking I should refurbish all of them (especially since I have no desire to spend 200-300 $$ on new ones if it's not necessary).
Thanks very much for any info provided!

I cant really answer your question, but If the engine was running fine before the roller lifters should be fine.I understand they dont wear anything like the non rollers. Also you can get stock or better replacemnt rollers from summit for about 100 bucks

I dont know that anyone can provide information on that. If you weren't getting weird noises before, they're likely fine. The amount the plunger will move with force is totally dependent on how much oil is in there. The two that move a lot are probably empty and the 2 that dont move are likely totally full.
