wanna hit 13's...mods?

Okay. I need to hit 13's, what should I do? Should I get an AFPR? Will that help since I have the exhaust now? How about ignition? I can get a chip burned for a fairly cheap price, should I go that route or wait for the rest of my mods? I plan to get pullies but what after that? No major engine mods, I just wanna tap 13.9 or better and then worry about the rest of the stuff. Thanks.

WEll from your times, if you only want to do it at the Track. Get you some DOT approved slicks, you can also use them on the road. Get a lower gear since you will be stickier and a heavier clutch. I am sorry but you 60' times suck. It killing you.
THat will easily get you the 13.9 because if you could pull a 1.95 60' time based on your times noew you should be Down in the 14.2's
With the Slicks and lower gear you will hook hit that number and acccelerate harder. The clutch is just to make sure all of your power gets to them slicks and not in spinning your clutch out
THe AFPR would be a good idea and I would wait and see what otheer mods you do before getting a custom chip burnt.

I wouldnt get the pullies, they're a waste. I would get the AFPR, and what kind of chip is it? Most aftermarket chips are worthless.

I wouldnt get slicks either, you dont need them right now. Go for drag radials instead, and the 3.42 gears is fine too.

Are those new edelbrock headers or the old ones? If they're the old ones, they suck.

And you might have to wait for some cooler weather, as the heat of summer really kills times.

I would do some suspension mods. SFC are a really good idea along with STB and LCA's adj Panhard rod are some good ideas. Also an AFPR would be a good one. I put one in and I love it. If you want to go ***** to the wall some head work maybe nice. Just some ideas. You can also do little things like pulleys, coil, ignition box, things like that. Good luck hitting it. Let us know if you make it because I have about the same car that you do so then I will know what I have to do to hit it.

Kevin, its a custom burnt prom. My friend supposively dropped 2 tenths from it and he got the prom work for free! I'm gonna try and talk him in to getting me one, all I have to do is buy 2 chips. For $10 tho I figure what the hell! I just ordered my TES Headers like 1 month ago, so they should be the "new" ones.

I will tell what results I have had from just bolt ons. My 1991 350 B4C ran 14.49 @ 95.8mph stock. My mods were Flowmaster catback(single tailpipe), K&N's, Jet airfoil, alt & crank pullies, ported plenum(ridges removed), 8* timing, fresh tune-up, and iced intake prior to run and ran 14.09 at 100.86mph. Basically I gained 5mph from these simple bolt ons. My newest 92' B4C just ran 14.34 @ 97.34mph in Phoenix heat with tune-up, ported plenum, and flowmaster catback. Maybe this will help. I don't know if the 305 230hp responds as good to these mods as a L98.

Don't the L98 B4C's come with aluminum driveshaft? I was also thinking about putting one of those on, but am skeptical because I'm not sure of the benefits I will reap. Anyone know if it would be good? SOTP feel?

The B4C's got the aluminum drive shaft. This is a good thing for any car because it lowers the weight of the car. Also it gives the car less rotating mass so it doesn't take as much engergy to make the drive shaft spin. One more thing the car will shake less and generally drive better at higher speeds.

Sorry, but no B4C's received the aluminum driveshaft from the factory. Only 1LE's and Pontiac Tran Am's.

It wasn't an option on B4C's? Just thought I had read that in another post somewhere. . . oh well, I tend to forget sometimes.

The old headers are 1 1/2" and 1 5/8" dual primaries. The new ones are all 1 5/8" primaries.

The only seat of the pants feeling you will get is less drivetrain vibration at speeds over 75 MPH. Its not a horsepower mod, but its one of those "every little bit helps" mods, like an airfoil. Check the classifieds for a used one.

You can feel a SOTP result from an aluminum driveshaft. It allows more power to get to the wheels. Sure its not a HP mod for the engine, but pull onto a Chassis dyno and it becomes a HP mod.
