Peak H.P./Shifting
Peak H.P./Shifting
I have an 86 Iroc w/ a built 350 TPI and 700R4. It has ported SLP runners matched to a ported TPI plenum, the work was done by Dan Burk. The base and T.B. are stock except for and air foil. My question is how high in RPMs should this pull, I have heard stock TPI cuts out after 4500 RPM. Also I have a 3.42 gear and my cam makes peak power at about 4800 RPM, where should I shift for the most performance??? Thanks

Its hard to tell. Your best bet is to get the car dynoed to find out for sure.
Or, since you say the cam is built for 4800 RPMs, shift about 4800-5000 RPMs.

Kevins right, about 4800rpms to 5000rpms you should shift, I shift at 5000rpms but she pulls to that, don't say that crap about 4500rpms is all TPIs can pull too...makes me shiver
