If you mean port it and enlarge it's diameter it's not possible. You can remove the screens and cut out the cooling fins from inside it but people have had mixed results with this mod. If you find a source for using a larger one let me know.

Im sure there would be a way to just make a new intake, cut the sensor in pieces and adapt it to the larger diameter(or just larger) intake.. Maybe cut the sensor and connector out and use them differently.

Can't do that rezinn, it would throw the calabration off. More air would inter the system then what the sensor thinks is entering, and that would cause a lean condition.

It all depends on how much power your engine is making as to how much benefit you'll see from the maf. I wouldn't expect very much, maybe around 5 horsepower. Whatever brand you buy you're limited by the diameter of the maf and whatever sensor is inside it to measure the airflow.

I'll put it this way, when you stock one goes out get the Wells, but I wouldn't just change them for the heck of it as a mod. You'll get alot more out of porting your plenum.

Yeah, I guess you're right... it needs to be in the center of a cylinder?

Anyway, listen to what Vader once said, your MAF flows more than your stock throttle body and more than your intake. So if you are going to port it, it makes no sense unless you have a modified intake to bring in more air.

Unless your seriously modded or running bigger cubes, you don't need one. They ECM can only read 255 gm's anyway. When I've run with my scantool connected, I've only touched 255 for a split second. (I have a modded MAF and custom programming). I would guess that the small HP gains that are picked up by people with near stock setups is that GM stock chips tend to run lean for safety reasons. Since the modded maf will flow more air than the computer is sensing, the tendency will be to lean out the mixture. (Just hypothesizing) I think an adjustable fuel pressure gauge is more valuable because it gives you more flexibility as you modify your motor.

Just my .02 for what it's worth.
