MiniRam = loss of torque... HAHAHA >>

I have read many times that a MiniRam intake will loose a noticable amount of torque at lower rpm's, and then there are replies of how very little if any you will loose. Today I drove a MiniRam, AFR 190 headed, ZZ9 cammed 355 ci car and can say first hand that there is PLENTY OF TORQUE down low. Granted, the car has a T-56 transmission and a 4:11 gear in the back, but it is an F-body, and it flat rips! I have a TPI with long tube runners, Sportsman 11 heads, LT-4 Hot Cam, T-5 and 3:70 gears, I think the MiniRam feels much better all around! I will be saving for one, that is for sure.... Put me under the list of names that says the torque loss is B.S. !! If the car had any more torque, I would have never got traction, even after burning them off into 4th gear and finally hooking up HAHAHA!
I think the intake kicks @$$ !!!

If you put a mini-ram on your setup it would loose some low-end,but gain top end...

If you put your TPI setup on that other setup you mentioned it would loose topend and gain low end.

There is always a trade-off.

That mini-ram set up you mentioned looked pretty balanced....its when people stick one on a stock set up that things don't work as they had planned...the whole setup needs to be balanced

Jason-cool idea-but as I see you also live in the not so great state of PIA smog checks......the mini-ram has no provision for the egr and won't pass! If you have a way around the smog check-and I won't ask-then if you're not already burning your own chips then its time to start! Check out the diy-prom section for tuning tips; a lot of folk have already gone tuning the miniram over there.

I talked to them about 6mos.-at that time there was nothing and they had no plan to offer any provisions for the egr.....unless they changed their minds recently.

MR's do take TQ, but make better higher RPM HP, thats what its designed for. TPI, like the SR kinda, is designed for better lower RPM TQ and good HP.

If u want a good comparison of both setups on the same modded engine, go here https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000986.html
