Engine bogging and sometimes jumpy upon acceleration

Need some help here. My car started bogging under normal acceleration recently and now it also jumps a little. It only does it when I'm accelerating, around 1500-2100 rpms. It doesn't do it when its in neutral or park. Could it be the tranny? Maybe the TPS? Oh yeah, the car is a 91 Z with 350 TPI and of course the 700-R4. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Marc

Just a total shot in the dark Marc but when is the last time you changed the plugs and/or wires? Just thought I would mention that, because if it hasn't been done recently, a tune-up can make all the difference in the world.

Could be a TPS on it's way out. That would allow the TCC to lock incorrectly, causing a bog and then a jump when it released. Check the TPS for ~ 0.5V with eththrottle close, and a smooth steady increase as you open the throttle. The procedure must be outlined 9000 times by now on these boards so i'm not gonna retype it now, just doa search if you don't know how to check it.

Thanks for the input so far. Irocker, I did a tune up close to one year ago sometime this month. I changed the plugs, rotor cap, rotor, plug wires, fuel filter, and changed the tranny fluid. I'll have to check the TPS, its one of those things I've been putting off.

TPS is defiantely a fore runner then. Another thing is the MAF, but unfortunately there is no real way to check. Mine went and it did some real funny things, like not being able to rev above 3500RPM, to stalling the car, to making the acceleration jumpy...And it never once threw a code. But like Ed said, definately check the TPS first.

Good luck!

It's a 91 so no MAF, if it was a MAF car i'd be behind you 100% though.

Oh, didn't know it was a 91...If no the TPS then, could there be something wrong with the speed density setup? Never had a SD car so I'm totally guessing here.
