Timing for a LT4 Hot Cam

Where is a good place to set the timing on a TPI that has a Lt4 Hot Cam in it. And yes the comp has a Ed Wright chip in it.
Thanks Scott

SC,

Set the base timing as far advanced as you can until the EST starts taking advance out of the equation on heavy acceleration. You'll need some sort of scanner to monitor the EST while you drive. Lacking a scanner, you can incementally increase timing a few degrees at a time and drive the car a couple of days to determine if the advance has gone too far and is actually causing EST retard. Of course, all that depends on a properly functioning EGR to help max out your EST timing.

Did you have Ed burn the chip for the Hot Cam? If so ask him where to set it. There is a value in the PROM that hase what the base timing is set to. If you set your base timing to something else you could possibly confuse the ECM. And, if you can't get ahold of him just try the stock 6*.
