BBK APFR - FP at 60!! What direction to adjust?

Alright guys, just put the car back together with new injectors and the BBK AFPR. Assuming the injectors didn't magically change my line pressure, it's the BBK that's having issues.

With the pump on, but not idling, I had exactly 40 psi on the gauge. Once I cranked it over though, pressure shot up to 60psi. The bolt was just about touching the underside of the plenum, so i don't know how much more adjustment I have. I have read of people cutting the bolt on BBKs, so that's a possibility. Any thoughts?

And which direction do you turn to lower and raise pressure? You DO loosen to lower right? ....probably woulda figured this out already but it started raining so now I'm stuck here on TGO!!!!

I have the same reg on my car. I had the same prob and i did cut my screw. Its been a few years since i did it so i dont remember how much i cut off. I dont ever remember my press being that high though so u may have something else going on there. If you tighten the screw does it go up more or does turning it not effect the press at all?? I would go no more than 50 psi so u have alot of turning to do and i wouldnt think it should be that high backed all the way out like that.

i have a crane afpr and when installing mine, i actually had to clearance the plenum to install it(didn't think about cutting the bolt down.

btw, you are correct. loose(counterclockwise) lowers pressure, tighten(clockwise) raises pressure.

also....there are worse things than being stuck on TGO

Well, after rereading the install instructions, it says to thread the screw until you just notice it contacting the spacer. I know I was playing around with it and trying to get a little more space underneath (before the plenum was back on), and I'm pretty sure I've got it in too far.

.....hopefully tomorrow will show some improvement in the weather, and I'll get to fix this issue!

Set the fuel Pressure with the vacuum line disconnected 43.5# or what ever you wish. Idle vacuum will lower the pressure.

Yeah, once I cut the screw it was smooth sailing. Unfortunately, my new fuel pressure gauge on the rail doesn' allow for side access to the AFPR, so the distributor cover needs to come off for adjustment.....

....but hey, it only takes a minute, and you're not doing it that often!

Hey Abubaca....I'm installing my BBK AFPR this weekend, what was the length that you cut off the screw.I pretty sure I read somewhere on the threads that it was a quarter inch, just want to make sure before I make the cut.

Thanks in advance!
