Passing smog with fast car

I have a 91 5.7 Z28. I want to replace my engine and other stuff with something with a little more power. The only thing is I'm worried about being able to pass smog. I live in California with somewhat strict smog laws I've heard. There's a lot of cool engines out there like the RamJet 350 but I heard it's not meant for cars later than 1973. I've been trying to do as much research as I can. Do any of you guys have any ideas. What kind of enigines can I put in my car and be able to pass CA smog. Any of you guys already supped up your car to high 12's and still pass smog? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

You'd get better responses in the TPI forum.
