Having a vaccum problem need ideas.

Im posting this for a friend so you will have to bear with me. The car is a 89 305 with a 85 TPI unit converted to SD. He just put a Comp Cams Extreme Energy 218/224 .495/.502 110LSA cam in it and is having vaccum problems. When he puts it in gear the car will lobe very slowly. What are some ways to bump up the vaccum on his car. Switching the cam is out of the question since budget is the key to the whole situtation. He is getting a custom prom burned for him which he will be putting in hopefully today depending on how fast TPIS works (man I love having them so close) and he is putting a vaccum canister in it as well. What are some ideas you may have to help him combat this problem. Thanks in advance.

Im not 100% sure bu ti think TPI needs LSA to be around 112 or higher to get enough vacuum.

The chip should make a substantial difference, but that cam is too much for a street-driven otherwise stock 305 TPI. Too much duration, too little LSA, too typical of a mistake. Unless he's made other mods to complement the cam I would advise him to jerk it on out and be more realistic with his next cam selection.

Thanks for the info. Cobra you are right the TPI does need 112 LSA that much I know and Jeth I told him in the begining to just get a 350 cam for the thing it would be a great cam since it comes in the 5spd 305 but he didnt and now he is stuck. I am thinking that we will need to bump up the idle on his car to try and help with the problem. Any other ideas?
