Converting to TPI
Converting to TPI
I am thinking about converting my 83 Z28 to TPI. Does anyone know where I can find a complete unit for a reasonable price? What potential problems am I going to have? I am new to the 3rd Gen world and I could really use some help, any tips or advice is welcome. Thank you for any responces.
P.S Does anyone have a best place to find parts?

Since you are doing a camaro it would be different, but I have some notes on my web page describing what I had to do to convert to TPI
visit http://www.3rdgenformula.com after the splash page, half way down the main menu page click on "modifying your formula" and you will find out 99% of everything I did to convert over to TPI.

Try junkyards, swap meets, or Ebay. Expect to spend anywhere from $400 to $900 for a used set-up.
Look in the Tech article section of this web-site. there is a good article on this TPI swap. I am in the process of making the change myself. This can be a very expensive and challenging process, but if you are patient you can pick up what you need for some reasonable prices.

I'm in the process of tearing down and cleaning and paiting(aluminum) an 89 corvette TPI that would fit on your car. It would have everything you need to do the swap(distributor, computer, wiring, sesors, intake duct, all tpi parts). It will be on ebay in about a week. Asking $600 plus shipping.

I too am doing a TPI swap. It's a PITA, but I am hoping that it is worth the money.
I have some left over parts if you are interested, intank pump and sender unit, brand new fuel tank, 86 intake base, runners, and plenum.
I have a list of items that are needed to do the swap on my site.
