Is this fuel pressure gauge reading normal

I have a fuel gauge and it shows fuel pressure drop shortly after I rev it and hold it there. Seems to me the pump is not sending enough fuel or can something be wrong with the bbk adjustable fpr. Car is a 89 gta tpi that has the sdpc vortec crate engine that is rated at 360hp , car has all the bolt ons with 24# inj at 50 psi. What pump is good or how many lph do i need. *************( I Have since put in a walbro pump and racetronics hotwire kit.same thing happening.)******

Change the fuel filter first.

Then check out racetronix.com They have some good info even if you don't buy their pump.

Can't go wrong with a true Walbro 255lph pump. Even the HV version wouldn't hurt.

Don't feel bad, had a fuel issue with mine and it wasn't the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator. new injectors, increased the wiring guage to the pump, and cleaned out the fuel lines. None of these solved the problem. Turned otu the ecm isn't up to the task. hope this wasn't your problem. my motor would have bene good for around 400hp or so.

If you had just changed it, should I feel stupid for suggesting it?

It follows the 2 foot dummy rule. Anybody working on something (within 2') will miss the "obvious", anybody else won't. If you trade places, the, 2' dummy, person changes. It does not matter who is closest. They will always be the "2 foot dummy".

Re: What fuel pump do i buy

well i changed the fuel filter and it the same. and since then i just put a walbro fuel pump along with the wiring upgrade kit and it stayed the same, I haven't changed the fuel pressure though, should I raise it? last time i did it wouldnt idle right ,its at around 45 psi now. Or maybe its normal for the gauge to do this or its not working. The car still runs ok but i cant tell if it improved because the trans slips.the tranny is last on the list to replace with a t56 since its a big project.

Re: What fuel pump do i buy

wow been a long time since i messed with this car. still does the same thing but have always wondered if its normal. again I have a fuel pressure gauge with like 2 1/2 feet of hose connected to the shrader valve and like before if i rev the engine and hold the throttle the pressure drops. Is this normal? runs ok.

Re: What fuel pump do i buy

from 45psi it goes to about 30-35psi and then goes back up when throttle is released.
