I just got done swapping my auto to a 5 spd in my 86 and took it for a test drive. About 15 min into the ride my SES light came on and my speedo quit working, so I went home and pulled the codes. I am getting a code 24 for vss, when I didn't think 86 had a vss. Is there anything else that could cause this ?

You have a cable speedo, but the computer still gets a speed signal electronically. Since your speedometer quit, I'd look and see if your cable is connected to the trans properly, if its connected to the speedometer properly, and make sure its turning, not bound up inside.

I thought the cable might have gotten screwed up some how, but I'll have to wait till tommorow to check. Were does the computer pickup the signal from ?
