Intermittent check engine light, code 42?

Sometimes the car will be idling and it will stumble and die. When I restart, the check engine light stays on and the car runs but misses. I can pull over, turn off the car, then restart and the light goes off and it runs normal. The only code it's showing is 42. I've read the archives a little, and it seems that a connection might be the problem, but turning the key off, then back on cures it.

ok , i would go through all the connections thoroughly first, check the resistance of your pickup coil, and have the ignition module tested. i have a really good diagnostic procedure from my shop manual, just for a code 42 on tpi motors, if u like i could scan it later and send it to u..hope this helps.
