does my 85 iroc have a knock sensor?

 

look on the passenger side of the engine infront of the starter, it will have a 1 wire connector, if its not there you dont have one,later jimmy

 

It should. 1985 is the first year that all US emission standard F-body V8 engines shared the same long block assembly(except for camshaft) with flat top 9.5:1 compression pistons that required the Electronic Spark Control system to prevent spark knock.

The knock sensor is located in the passenger side block drain plug hole and the ESC module is next to the brake booster on the firewall.

 

im seeing the same part# for both 305 and 350 85-89? are they the same?

 

knock sensor to 305 and 350 is different..
and all TPI vehicles has to have an knock sensor. The ESC module is also different on 305 and 350..

what would be the outcome of me running the lb9 knock and ecs till i can afford l98 stuff? anyone willing to get rid of these items?

 

If you got and 305 engine you have to use an 305 sensor and module
and if you have an 350 engine you have to use an 350 sensor and module
becuase they are tuned/made for that spec. engine size. it dosnet work with and 305 sensor on a 350 engine.. so if you got and 305 engine, but the 305 ones, and if you got the 350 buy the 350 stuff..

Dosent work between each other.. you can brake some stuff if you use the wrong ones..



EDIT: and on tpiparts, its the same price no mather what engine size you have...

 

If you go to Rockauto.com and search knocksensor and esc module to -85 tpi,you find that 305 and 350(vette) have same partnumbers.

 

im swapping my LB9 out for a 350
