oil leak by dipstick?

My car has started leaking oil, about a silver dollar size every night. Also my dipstick has been popping out when I've driven it and it leaks out oil on that side. The dipstick stick part my not be stock, so I'm getting a new one. But even with the dipstick tied down it is still leaking oil by it, on the passenger side. My friend says that my engine may have "blow-by," I 'm afraid to check because he says you check by taking off the oil cap while its running and seeing if you feel air pulsating, is he right? Where else could the oil be coming from?
Thanks

Re: oil leak by dipstick?

why are you afraid to check ? it is what it is . do what your friend says , you will have some air/fumes/vapor from the oil filler cap , that's normal . sounds like you have a p.c.v. problem . ( positive crankcase ventilation ) replace p.c.v. valve , make sure all crankcase vent hoses are in good shape and not plugged up with sludge . don't forget filter inside air filter housing . if the vent system is not working press. will build up , push the dipstick up ,vent vapor , cause oil puddle . you should be able to do this in an afternoon for less than $10.00 . if car has lot's of miles or been setting for a long time sludge can/will build up . eng. flush can help , do search on eng. flush . good luck .

Re: oil leak by dipstick?

i have a cai so i don't think it has to do with the filter. My pcv system is okay, all the valves are good on 'em. I may get an engine flush
thanks

Re: oil leak by dipstick?

has the valve cover been change over chrome or either other,if is it may be a problem with pcv.i change my valve covers over to chrome and after a couple day i had oil coming out the the dipstick.i had a breather on the pass side and a pcv on the driver didn't work that way i guess.so i switch the breather out and use the stock piece and run the hose to the throttle body, and the oil coming from the dipstick stop.

so make sure ur pcv is right..
