24LB 16ohm changed to 26 2ohm..
24LB 16ohm changed to 26 2ohm..
we changed the injectors from the lucas 24
lb/hr injectors to MSD 26lb/hr injectors.
but the resistance in the lucas were 16ohm.
replaced them with 2ohm and the vehicle would
not start. reinstalled the 24s and the car started.
because the load of the injector drivers was
too great.
question: was there possible ECM damage?
getting from freaky scanner readings. sometimes
0volt tps, no 5v ref to CTS and MTS.
and sometimes all ok....
thinking weve toasted the drivers..
thoughts, opinions??

Possible damage yes, it overloads the injector driver. I did the same thing on a retrofit, tried and tried to start and never would, did some troubleshooting and found the injectors we low ohm style. Put the right ones in and still would not start, it was not pulsing the injectors they were always getting power. Changed the computer and all is well.
I would say you are okay because it is running, possible long term damage, don't know? But a new computer is 80 bucks from any of the chain autoparts stores..
Hope this helps..
