Yet another Camshaft question..... 305 TPI All GURU's help!
I put a Crane Compucam 2032 in my 305 recently, LSA 112 270/276 452/465 hydraulic roller. I kept my stock lifters, they were in really good shape, the motor had 102,000 when i changed the cam and has about 105,000 on it now. The idle is pretty rough, it stalls sometimes, but i think its from my fuel pressure being at about 55lbs. (cant lower it anymore screw on afpr is too long, hits plenum) i have a performance resource chip installed. Is this cam a little too aggresive for my 305? It has stock heads, but a gutted cat, with slp cat back, cold air/ram air intake, ported plenum, Crane AFPR, 3.73 Richmonds in the rear, accell coil cap rotor wires, and bosch +4 Platinum plugs. Cant get a smooth idle out of the car, and since the cam starts at about 2000 rpm I lost some low end, gained alot of midrange, but can i recover my low end with a new torque converter? What stall do you recommend so my trans wont slip in OD? I opened up a can of worms when i installed this cam, now I have alot more mods to do. Can i pull low 14's high 13's with this car, do i need new heads to accomplish this? Didn't run it with the new cam, but i pulled a 14.6 with all the same mods minus the new cam. Any good advice as to what to do next with this setup and how to get it running good would be great! Thanks!!!

Bwahahahaha, overcammed my *** , try grossly over injected...
You absolutely have to get that FP down. Take your polenum off, remove the AFPR screw and cut it down so it doesn't hit the plenum at a normal adjustment level. 55psi is WAY WAY WAY too much fuel pressure for any car w/ astock chip, especially a MAF car. I guarantee your problem is your BLMs are bottomed at 108 for idle and probably every kind of part throttle driving. Not only does this give you an ugly over rich idle/cruise, but it also fouls the plugs/combustion chambers, making the problem worse.
Worry about making your car run correctly before you start worrying about making it fast.

I totally agree with what Ed is saying. I ran a comp 210/220 .480"/.480" with stock vette AL heads and stock ported TPI setup to a tune of 13.6's @ 101mph. The cam is not to big...it just sounds like some tuning issues. As Ed mentioned, get that pressure down...55 is way to much! If you have to, cut off some of the adjustment screw or make a notch in the plenum. Once you get the car tuned, definitely think about getting some heads(AL vettes) and a good set of headers(SLP).

FWIW, I ran that same exact cam in my LB9 for 50k miles and it was a match made in heaven.
Agree with Ed. Get your AFPR squared away and most of your probs should go away.

And get rid of those +4s they fouled up my idle pretty bad. I went back to ac delcos and it runs much better.
