corvette heads
corvette heads
What HP gains can I expect from putting the Corvette aluminum heads on? What was the HP difference fromthe Corvette TPI and the Firebird one? I think that was the big differnece on the corvette. Thanks

well they don't weigh as much, so thats a gain, but i don't know how much HP. but also, i think the vett had better exhaust manifolds. which probably helped alot.

When GM put the vette heads on the L98 in 86' the horsepower went from 230 to 240. The D-port heads intruduced in 88' are probably good for another 5hp over the round port, 86-87' heads.

Actually the Corvette L98 and the F-Body L98 were rated very similarly in horsepower and torque from 87-91. The Corvette L98 heads pretty much suck in stock form. But you can port them a lot better than the iron F-Body heads. Plus they are aluminum for lighter weight and you can have more compression. I'm using a ported set on my engine with nice results.
