What are the differences? Are all Vettes MAF or are there SD ones just like F-bodies? Did they make much more HP or was that the f-body just getting underrated? Any help is appreciated.(Not planning anything just curious.)

I couldn't tell you the exact dates, but the vette got tpi in 85 and probably switched to speed density around 89, it tends to be one year ahead of the f-body. In the vette, the fuel lines come out straight from the rails, as opposed to the bent ones that curve toward the passenger side on the f-body. I think the water outlets may be different as well, but the tpi itself should be the same as on a 350 f-body.(only difference would be injector flow ratings on the 305)

The vette always recieved a higher power rating. Not sure on the year, but the vette could be had with aluminum heads around 87 or 88, which added 5 or 10 horsepower. Im pretty sure it also got somewhat less restictive exhaust as well.

As you probably know, the vette got the LT1 in 92, while the f-body got it in 93, one year ahead as usual. So these vettes are much faster compared to that year of f-body.

The vette TPI systems have external EGR plumbing and a mil spec (set in epoxy) computer that can be mounted inside the engine compartment.

They are fairly similar.

What exacly is different about the computer. Is it the case or just the board inside. I am referring to the part that makes it able to be mounted under the hood. The board in my computer is covered in some kind of epoxy or something. I was just wondering. Thanks for your help.

The vette had a much les restrictive dual exhaust. Plus the aluminum L98 heads added more than 10hp to the performance of the vette. Think of the weight reduction to.

ive got one of each in the garage, both 89s, both L98s. the vettes computer was inside the passenger compartment until 1990, in the same place as the f-body. the vette does not have true dual exaust. it has shorty header style manifolds that has a y-pipe into a converter, then another y-pipe into two mufflers. in late 86 the vette got aluminum heads. in 88 the aluminum heads were changed to "D" port aluminum heads that flowed better than the previous iron and aluminum heads, which gave a hp increase. the vette heads didnt have egr provisions so the egr was plumbed off the passenger header. the vette was rated at around 230-250 depending on the year. also, the vette was MAF 85-89, and SD 90-91. moving to LT1 in 92.

The Corvettes were MAF and SD the same years as the f-bodies. 85-89 are MAF, 90-91(92) are SD. The runners, plenum, and throttle body are the same, but the intake manifold is different for 87-91 because of the heads and EGR.
