tpi install pics

well i dont know if yall know but i am swapping back to my tpi in the iroc.. going for more of a show quality theme and the 350 wasnt doing nothing but sucking gas it was fast but not setup to go fast down the track so it was pretty pointless except for making me smile around town.

but i rebuilt my 305 and i bought some slp runners for it, i am going to try and tuck most of the wires the best i can and shoot for a clean looking engine bay. i painted the whole engine bay low gloss black so hopefully when you pop the hood it is like "mota" lol. i want the eyes to be drawn right to the motor and appreciate the attention to the details but here are a couple pics what you guys think?

first time painting... and this is just the first coat, its coming out good so far. i am just using a little touch up gun for this small job i painted the runners and the valve covers. i plan on painted the corvette myself just to try and get into the painting aspect of it. id like to be able to do everything in house and i am almost to that point i want to learn how to weld and then i should be able to finish a whole car and do every single thing myself which is my ultimate goal. but i am only 19 so that project car is probably going to come a little further down the line.

dropped in there

my girlfriend helped me drop the motor and trans and managed to stay that clean lol.

as of "today"

what yall thing. i am hoping to have the car running by the end of the weekend. i have to work 20 hrs this weekend too... so we will see.
----------
the painted pieces. i think this is really gonna look sweet on here.

lol i told you you'd be sorry for not doing it. i hated popping the hood after i put the 350 in... so i figured id do it right this time. i am going for a show car look anyways, tired of wasting money in gas to drive the car too..

The IROC's look good ... and so does your girl (hope that's not your sister!! LOL)

Are you spray-bombing those parts? If so, they look really good for a spray-bomb job.

I painted a motorcycle gas tank a few years back with spray, and I laid the Duplicolor clear on heavy (well, many thin coats ... you don't want to lay it on in heavy coats and get runs) then wet-sanded and buffed and it came out looking awesome. You might want to try that.

Re: tpi install pics

what kind of paint did you use. it might have been better to powder coat them. there is a chance that that paint will start to chip and peel from the heat.

oh and what did you do with the 350

i used a single stage paint. it is ppg paint, i hope it will last for a little while. i was going to have them powder coated but decided not to because they said they couldnt get a perfect match, so i opted to paint them myself. they turned out nice, i am going to have them on the motor tomorrow so i will get some more pictures up here.

and ya thats fine shean give me a call whenever.

Re: tpi install pics

well i was just dying to see how these looked today so i just went out and tossed em on there... gosh they look gorgeous. tomorrow is my busy day to finish it up.. i only have class in the morning, then i have to go pickup my corvette from the exhaust shop then im coming home to go to town on the iroc, im hoping to at least be firing it up tomorrow. i couldnt do anything tonight because i dont have an oil pump primer, im going to prime the motor tomorrow put the water pump on and hook everything up, and turn the key hopefully all goes well.

well heres the pics what ya think?

ya they look awesome on there. this is kinda a trial run, I wanted to seehow the paint was going to hold up and I am going to be taking it apart down the road anyway to port the plenum and base. and the 350 I pulled to put into my 67 camaro to get it running.

Re: tpi install pics

Ya man, That looks really good, The paint should last, I used that Rust o'leum paint, on many engines, and they have lasted 4+ years. Looks kinda like mine now, except my engine builder gave me some "engine builder silver" it almost looks bronze though, I painted the heads black, and the valve covers, and intake components got that silver. Lookin good, I like your collection, I wish I would have kept all my cars. haha.
