58mm tb boot/adapter

What are you guys using to attach your intake ducting to the throttle body? My 58mm is huge and neither the stock boot nor the K&N tb air filter will fit over it.
Bakerprecision might have something but they're not open for me to call on weekends.
I'm having a 4" intake duct fabbed up but I need to find a way to attach it to the throttle body.

Anybody have ideas or vendors/websites?

Re: 58mm tb boot/adapter

The one I'm currently using is from Baker Precision. I have had it on my Holley 58mm and my AS&M monoblade. In the past I have used 4" hump hose to connect to a LT1 elbow.

Re: 58mm tb boot/adapter

Baker still hasn't gotten back to me. I need one to fit the 58mm tb and a 4" intake duct.

Z - you were able to lube the stock boot up and get it to slide on?

Re: 58mm tb boot/adapter

My Baker is from the throttle body to a 3.5" pipe. Maybe all you need is a piece of 4" hose?

The stock boot will fit. Just play with it and open the clamp up more. Start from the bottom and use a screwdriver to help at the top.

Re: 58mm tb boot/adapter

I was trying to avoid using a 4" hose because I want a smooth transition between the duct and TB. I "think" that if I opened up a 4" hose to fit that it would start to collapse/sink in laterally.

Allan, under what specific category did you find your adapter? I ran your part number and kept coming up with nothing. I've looked through their site and couldn't find anything. I've also called them and left a message. I wish they had real hours.

I'd like to avoid using the stock boot if possible. I don't like the possibility of all the ridges messing up my airflow. I'll probably try prying it on with lube as a temporary measure.
A local shop around here wanted $400 to fab up to my specs a 4" setup in stainless or aluminum. Ouch!

Re: 58mm tb boot/adapter

I went over to Baker Precision as they are not that far from me. Maybe 10 miles. At the time I was looking for a specific type of hose and told them what I was doing. The lady behind the counter said I might be interested in this and brought out throttle body hose. I said yep that is exactly what I was looking for. So I don't know if it is in there catalog. I think you would have to phone them.

With a 4" hump hose there is less of a chance for collapsing. Mine never did when I had it on there.

Yeah. Not in the catalog. Maybe I can talk the wife into paying for my intake stuff. I'm looking at probably over $500 just for some tubing. I think i'll entertain other avenues for the moment.

im doing the exact same thing..i saw the breathe puppy breathe from gmhightechperformance on magnum tpi. they netted 15 rwhp by fabbing up the 4" custom intake. I'm not paying that much for mandrel bend tubing though i ordered prebent pieces. With the K&N air filter I think the total came to about 100 bucks. I am getting ready to go to Autozone and see if they have something there to make it fit to the TB

Re: 58mm tb boot/adapter

I couldn't get my stock boot or the K&N RC-5000 cone filter to fit. For now i'm using 4" dryer venting with the cone filter. At least this way I can drive it and tune it until I can find a cheaper way of fabbing this intake up.
As for the coupler - I plan on using a 4" silicone coupler. Probably round. I'll shape the duct to an oval to fit over the TB. I think it would look better this way plus give it more of a smooth transition into the plenum.

Re: 58mm tb boot/adapter

all i did was convince the 4" coupler from Home Depot to fit around the TB, left it in overnight, took it off the next morning and it is shaped for the TB. I tightened it down REALLY tight though. it was only 4 bucks at home depot too. came with hose clamps

Re: 58mm tb boot/adapter

I may try that for a temporary.
I'm now looking into specialty stove/boiler piping that comes already polished. So far i've come across 6". I've personally seen some of the stock and you can't tell that it isn't polished aluminum or something that's been chromed. Only 9 bucks for a 90 degee bend too.
Until I can find everything I need to make up a more permanent setup that doesn't cost me $400+, i'll be using my crappy dryer vent setup. At least it's driveable.

Re: 58mm tb boot/adapter

My stock boot fits fine over my 58mm TB. Here's a link if you're interested:

I may replace my boot with some silicone hose if it will handle the vacuum.
