Increasing ignition timing can have a positive effect on performance. My suggestion is to be conservative. Factory specs call for 6 degs btdc. Start by increasing timing to 8 degs btdc then 10 degs. Just remember to use Premium fuel and listen for any sign of detonation. Good Luck!

Loosen the bolt that holds the distributor from turning and rotate it the opposite way that the rotor spins. Mark it were it is before you start and you will be doing it in about 1/8" increments. Ideally you won't notice any difference but will be a tenth or two faster in the quarter mile.

To set the timing, you must disconnect the est wire. If you are unfamiliar with this wire, it's a brown and black striped wire that you will find by the firewall on the passenger side. Once you find the wire, here's what to do:
1. Start car the disconnect wire. The motor may die out so have someone feather the throttle until it stabilizes.
2.Check set timing to desired position.
3.Turn ignition off, reconnect wire, disconnect negative battery cable for at least 30 seconds.
4. Reconnect negative cable.
