new to prom/ecm, need suggestions for my engine mods
ok guys i installed a few mods on my v8 5.0 305 tpi engine 1986 with automatic transmission
im afraid the prom and ecm cannot adjust enough to compesate and give me the power i can get out of my engine.
here are my mods.
k&n cold air induction kit
coolent bypass(no more coolent in the tb)
air foil in the throttle body
crane adjustable fuel pressure regulator(psi slightly higher than stock)
brand new ford 19lb injectors (19lb is stock)
i will soon install a 3wire heated 02 sensor
my engine is running slightly rich probably due to the fuel pressure regulator.
what kind of a prom should be able to help my fuel/air ratio with these small mods?

with those minimal mods, I don't think you need to do anything, except perhaps dial in the fuel pressure to factory specs, or at least to reduce the rich condition. maybe your next endeavor is to start data-logging to confirm the rich/lean prognosis.
personally, I'd go with a off-the-shelf aftermarket high-perf chip, but you probably have as many folks swear up & down against them as for them.
long time ago, while my 5.7L was still reasonably stock, I used a major namebrand chip with pleasing results, very happy. I won't mention the brand because I'd start a riot.
since then, I've replaced the cam, heads, complete intake, exhaust, larger injectors, smog-delete, etc, to where I had to do my own prom-burning. but with your mods, you're not there yet.
