well i'm runnin consistant 14.7 @ 95 with 2.4 60ft but have ran a 14.48 @ 95 with a 2.19 60 ft with the mods in my sig. i put a new clutch in and now i just spin through 1st and into 2nd. i'm on 3.08 gears. i was thinking about 3.73's but they really are too steep for a stock cammed 305. i'm not sure about your cam but i can say that 3.42 gears would make you happy. if you are makin good hp up to 5000 or more rpm you might consider 3.73 but remember you will have a harder time sticking a launch.
Andrew
p.s. all my times have been run on z-rated street tires.

Isnt the BW rear a 9 bolt. If so have fun finding gears. My friend has a BW 9 bolt and went to swap the gears and he said everything was discontinued or really freaking expensive. You would be better off building up a ten bolt or finding a 4th gen rear and swapping that in there. I am not sure what I am running in the 1/4 since I have only run 1/8 mile. And I ran that in 9.9@75mph sorry dont remember what 60' or anything like that. My mods are high flo cat, mandrel bent 2 3/4" exhaust to magna flo muffler, pulleys, typical tune up (8.8 wires etc) lowered but I doubt that would help at all. I have 3.08 and a 5 speed 305 TPI.

cool thanks for all the help i thin i am gonna get 3.42's. and i am runnin 9.8's in the 1/8 with the 2.73's, but with the new chip i think i am about 14.7 or so. but sad to say after tonight i am not racing on the streets anymore. me and my friend raced and were chaced by cops..... and well i got away and he didnt $1500 worth of tickets plus alot of harassment. so i dont know but gonna get the 3.42's they run 325 from randy's ring and pinion. they are found in tha back of any chevy h/p mag.

I just happen to get lucky.......The former owner had tranny replaced in 1991 by GM and it happen to get a vette convertor with 2100-2200 stall.

See my sig.....I did buy a 3.27 BW rear to swap in. Also have to get rid of the 15 year old factory exhaust. 107K miles and the exhaust is still factory VAN NUYS spec.

My Bone stock 85 LB9 with the bw 3.27 rear runs 15.0 @ 91.5. Ill bet I could get a high 14 run, but my trans was failing at the track...since been rebuilt. I would guess with a cam and chip low 14's wouldnt be strange with MY gear.
hope this helps.

Would you think that adding a supercharger might help out?? Or would this be worth the added cash?

Seems like a good choice for the 305 for the ease of installation and hp addition.

yes it would BUT i havent seen anyone make a supercharger set up for the 86 cause it does have mass air.

AL driveshaft, highflow cat, edelbrock headers(gained 3+ mph),ported plenum, flowmaster muffler/stock int. pipe(2.5"),coolant by-pass, air filter in place of stock canister. 3.42 gears '96 rearend.

What rpms do you guys shift at I've started going through the traps in 4th, used to do 3rd at 90+mph. I've tried shifting at 5400-5500 and also at 5000-4900 with similar results.

Ran a really disapointing 15.566 right after my TPI conversion. Since then Started buting my own chips and I can REALLY tell the difference. I am guessing around low low 15's I am hoping for high 14's.

Granted my reaction was 1.248 & my 60' was 2.237, so I imagine I could really benefit from some practice.

New time of 14.6 @ 96 mph. Where are the guys with the fast 305s, I saw one 12.98 with a blower. I know another guy posts with a 12 flat w/ a blower. isn't there also a guy running fast N/A 12.5 or 13.5 can't remember? I'm gonna set my goal to be 107 mph (mid 13s)in the 1/4 with a N/A 305 EFI(notice the TPI part missing=).
