My formula shuts off around corners...

Well It doesnt actually shut off but it does seem to die and then restart during HARD RIGHT turns. This usually occurs when I have 1/3 of a tank of gas or less which leads me to believe Im experiencing a fuel pressure issue of some sort. Has anyone else had this problem? By the way Its an 88 formula 350.
Thanks.

That's normal for earlier (pre-90?) third-gens. There is insufficient (or no?) baffling in the fuel tank, so the fuel pump inlet is uncovered. Do much more of this and you'll be replacing your fuel pump. Ask me how I know. I hurt my fuel pump mine in an auto-x by running less than 1/4-tank of gas, although it did last for several more months before I couldn't stand the aweful way the engine was running and had it replaced with a Walbro pump.

There is an easy fix to this. Put gas in the tank or don't take turns so hard when near empty. Seriously though, same problem here I'm sure the extra 20-30lbs of gas right over the rear axle isn't gonna hurt you in anyway.

yea my RS used to do that but for some reason my iroc does not. It has to do with the lack of a sump or a swing arm in the gass tank of thirdens. Is your car TBI? I don't think it is a big problem for the tpi cars because of the much higher fuel pressure. when the car does that put gass in it. That is how i used to tell if i needed gass in the RS if it stuttered going arround a corner hard i knew i better get to a gass station. When i first got my iroc i thought i was getting low on fule so i took a corner hard and no studder i ran out of gass 2 miles later that was not cool.

Nope, my car is TPI. Its kinda lame that these cars were designed to handle fairly well but had no baffling in the gas tank to keep the pump submerged. It only happens in Right turns so I guess that the pump and pick-up are on the passenger side of the tank...

Yep, It affects all the early cars, even TPI's I'm building a AutoX/Road Race/ G-Machine, so I'm looking in to 1LE tanks or a custom fuel cell.
