Oil gauge fluctuates when engine is revved..help

When I give my L98 '91 Formula some gas, the oil pressure gauge jumps all the way to its farthest point, in other words, it redlines/maxes out. What could be causing this? The oil level in the engine is right where it is supposed to be, I don' burn any oil, etc...so what should I be looking for here as a fix? Thanks.

What is it normally at when the car idles? What weight of oil are you using? It may be accurate, high oil pressure is better than low oil pressure. I think the max is 60psi. My car stays at that until it is warmed up.

No, it only happens under acceleration, which is not normal. I don't question the integrity of the oil pressure, but that of the gauge itself. Thanks for the replies.
