What fuel pressure gauges are you guys using?

Well now that I have an Auto Xray 10110 (new version replacing the 240) want to get the next diagnostic tool..........fuel pressure gauge. What are you guys recommending, and do you leave it on the motor when you drive (tape it to the windshield as a buddy of mine used to do) to watch it?

There are different types of gauges. One that screws into the shreder valve and stays there all the time (little short one) and the other type is the one with the long hose that also screws into the valve.

I am running the one with the longer hose, more popular and cheaper too. I do not know the brand name.

I'm using the Accel fuel pressure guage that mounts to the fuel rail and stays in place. Can't see what's going on driving down the road but then again, I'm not exactly to that point yet in my performance issues. I got other bugs, so to speak, to work on first.

I am using the Autometer 2 1/16 dia o/100psi FP gauge with the 3ft ss hose. The gauge is in a Autometer mounting cup located under my
STB on the inside fender by the strut support.
Nice protected location under the hood and
out of the way and still visible. I purchased all the items from Summit.

Im running a similar autometer setup, with 4 feet braided hose. I have it bolted to my hood tho.

Cost about 65.00 from Summit. I'm using Sunpro mounting cup bolted to hood. (sunpro is snap-on).

I have an Autometer 0 - 100 psi Pro Comp Ultra Lite 2 1/16" electric gauge. I used some A/C refrigerent hose with an adapter to go from the shroeder valve on the fuel rail to the electric sender that comes with the gauge (I am pretty sure that the adapter to go from the sender to the refrigerent hose came with the gauge as well.... having a hard time remembering, but I can dig out the literature for the gauge and check if you want). I then ran the wires off the sender up to an Autometer dual gauge pod inside the car. It works great and I verified it to be accurate with a mechanical fuel pressure gauge that I have. The Autometer gauge and the pod are available through Summit and I think I got the refrigerent hose (high pressure) from a local auto parts store....

I was thinking of doing the same thing, but can the cup be rotated so that the gauge is horizontal? I understand the fitting comes out of the bottom-back of the gauge, but I don't know where the hole in a mounting cup is. If someone understands what I am saying, please help.

Ok, heres a picture.

My questions are:

1: Is the gauge inlet on the bottom back of gauge (as in picture)?
2: Is the cup outlet on the back of the cup (as in the picture) or on the bottom, by the mounting bracket?
3: Can the cup be mounted at a angle (as in the picture), but still have the gauge horizontal?

Thanks

If you look under the STB on the passenger side you will see the Autometer Fuel Pressure Gage & SS hose from the fuel rail. I don't know if this is what you are looking for.

Im running a 2 5/8 auto meter phantom gauge imounted in the cowl of my hood. It is a mechanical gauge. I want spending $200 for the electrical one just to have it inside. I paid about $40 for mine and bought a 6ft length of braided line for a nitrous kit. I did have to get an adapter to mount the line on the shrader valve though since it was the stupid amercian thread size. I post a pic but my son smash my scanner today. hes only 18 monthes old though so Ill wait until hes 13 or so to punish him

This is currently the same setup I use only I used the auto meter S/S hose from the fuel rail to the sender, the refrigerent hose works well also, this is an excellent setup for someone who wants the guage in a pod on the pillar.

OK, but I can't see in your picture how the gauge is located. I'm assuming the cup is mounted sideways on the inner fender, but is the gauge horizontal, or is it sideways like the cup?

Oh, and also, is the inlet on the gauge male or female threads? I want to go fron a -4 AN fitting to the 1/4 or 1/8 NPT fitting, but the only adapters I see in Summit are male to male.

Nordskog digital fp gauge to autometer dual pod. I mounted the sender to the crossover on the fuel rail (leaves schraeder available)
accurate according to my mech fuel pressure tester

The Gage is mounted horizontal. Why do you want to change fittings?? As long as you get the SS braided hose with the -4AN
you should have no problem from the Schader valve & Autometer
FP Gage.

I too have the Nordskog electric gauge inside and a mechanical gauge under the hood.
The Nordskog is very innacurate and reads in a quarter circle in not so usable increments. labled 0, 25, 50, 75, 100. with little hashes inbetween that are soooooo close together because the gauge's sweep is so small. I would not recommend this gauge, I use it mearly to make sure I have fuel pressure at all because its not much use otherwise. it reads somewhere around 30 psi (hard to tell) when pressure is actuall 42 psi.
Even if it were accurate, you can't easily check pressure at a glance.
Just my experience and my opinion.

You should've gotten the digital one. Mine reads in numbers not in any type of a sweep.
