New throttle body - high idle problem

I swapped on a 89-92 throttle body and cable to match the plenum and runners I put on after deleting the cold start. Now the car actually holds an idle on a cold start (yay) but the idle rises from about 1k rpm in park to about 1600 rpms. I tried to re-set the IAC but even with the IAC unplugged, same thing. I swapped on my adjustable TPS to the throttle body, I realize its off somewhat but could the TPS alone cause such a high idle? What other factors affect the idle? The injectors are 24lb ones, the engine is a mild 350 with the MAF setup. I do have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator I just put on and set the pressure to about 45psi, nothing too wild I don't think, but could that cause the high idle? Car did set a code, TPS voltage low and 02 after running for a minute or two.

Re: New throttle body - high idle problem

throttle cables are different for 89-92 than 86-88. the throttle cable has to match the throttle body. is this a speed density motor or an maf

Re: New throttle body - high idle problem

Its a MAF setup, the cable was swapped at the same time as the throttle body, to match. Both are 89-92 peices. The idle won't back down even with the screw all the way in and pushing the throttle linkage by hand, so the cable isn't even a factor in the idle issue.

Re: New throttle body - high idle problem

If the throttle body did come off a speed density setup did you make sure to put an adjustable tps sensor on it? You may have air coming in around the throttle body,,, spray starting fluid around the throttle body and intake while running to see if it surges? Also if the tps is the right one did you adjust it as out lined in the teck articles, timing issue if you pulled the dist?

Re: New throttle body - high idle problem

Can a non adjustable TPS/throttle body be used on a earlier MAF Throttle body engine or does the adjustable TPS need to be swapped over?

Re: New throttle body - high idle problem

the maf needs an adjustable tps sensor, you will need to set the tps, iac and then time it.

Re: New throttle body - high idle problem

I didn't touch the dizzy, the car almost runs like it has a bad vacuum leak but I can't seem to find anything. I did swap over the adjustable TPS, having an issue trying to read the voltage though, so I know its off but I wouldn't think a TPS issue would cause it to run this far off.

Re: New throttle body - high idle problem

Sorry to take over your thread. Thanks wanab03ss, I will have to swap over my non adjustable TPS. I was just afraid of snapping a TPS bolt.
Thanks

I didnt even think of that... Im not totally sure but I think you have to reprogram your ecu to eliminate the cold start injector.
